Zoe Fox, the Illustrious President of Davis Women in Business

"Don’t be afraid to approach anyone."

Zoe Fox is ambitious, a go-getter, and only the slightest bit intimidating. Her role as president of Davis Women in Business is impressive, yet she assures me her role is to simply be an “Ask Me Anything” button. “I’m here to provide guidance and ensure a cohesive, inclusive community,” she says. Her path to being able to sit atop the DWIB empire has been nothing short of arduous, and she’s very open about her journey.

From the first meeting of the Fall quarter, Zoe has established herself as approachable and vulnerable. In a room full of strangers, she admitted to her struggle with mental health which forced her to leave Davis. After working through community college and being re-admitted, she sought out a club that would embrace and change her for the better. “I knew that coming back to Davis and being surrounded by likeminded women was something that would drive me to success and make me feel comfortable coming back to school,” she continues, calling DWIB the transition that helped her re-establish herself.

So what advice does the queen have for members of DWIB? “Don’t be afraid to approach anyone. You never know when that person you sit next to at a meeting is going to have an opportunity for you or when you’ll meet your new best friend.” She continued: “I made it a point to become friends with people I normally wouldn’t approach.”

Zoe ends by urging me and other members to put effort into the club. “I think it’s really powerful to say you contributed to the only women’s business-oriented organization. [DWIB] is a really great place to foster skills in an inclusive and nonjudgmental environment. Our goal is to allow you to let yourself be vulnerable and not be afraid to be human.”
